As far as I'm concerned, everything Ford Fry touches turns to gold,
delicious delicious gold. So I've long been excited to check out his new
Westside seafood spot. The restaurant's menu will focus on sustainable
seafood prepared in a wood-burning oven. Not content with just one
restaurant, there's also a sub-restaurant of sorts, called the Oyster
Bar which will have a more fish camp-like ambiance including a patio,
live music and of course lots of delicious seafood. I am almost always
disappointed by cooked fish dishes at restaurants, but if I was ever
going to optimistic about finding fish that doesn't make me long
for a steak, this seems like the place, right? Duck fat poached
swordfish or skate wing schnitzel do sound pretty darn good!

You'll find handcrafted cocktails from famed mixologist T. Fable Jeon
and quirky Southern gastropub eats (fried bologna, anyone?) from
up-and-coming consulting chef Julia Leroy at this new Decatur resto in
the old Cakes & Ale space. Sign me up for a funnel cake with dulce
de leche and a Hibiscus Fizz, made with hibiscus infused gin, lemon,
lime, peach preserves, tupelo honey syrup, orange flower water, cream
and egg white. I just love a frothy beverage!

The beloved Decatur restaurant is no more but never fear, you can still
get your fried chicken fix at the newly opened Watershed on Peachtree.
Still owned by Indigo Girl Emily Salier and helmed by former Repast Chef
Joe Truex, Watershed will have an all new menu (aside from the beloved
fried chicken). The menu will still be Southern-inspired elements of the
many ethnic flavors found in the South. If the nibbles I had at
tonight's preview party were any indication, the food is at once
adventurous and comforting. I tucked into fried chicken hearts with a
hot sauce thinking they were some sort of fried seafood, and I was
pleasantly surprised that something I'd normally avoid tasted so good!
